Jan 12 – Keane Mulready-Woods, 17, vanished from the streets of Drogheda in County Louth, Republic of Ireland. The following day his dismembered body turned up in several sports bags left in Coolock, Dublin. At 1.30am on the Tuesday (two days later) the rest of his body turned up in a burning car in Darndale, Dublin. The murder has horrified hardened crime correspondents. It is believed to be linked to a gang feud in Drogheda, which claimed the lives of Richard Carberry in November 2019 and Keith Branigan in August 2019. Nobody has been charged with murder but Gerard McKenna, 50, has been charged obstructing a prosecution.

Sentencing Finch to life, Judge Peter Johnson said he was “satisfied” he had been abused by Mr Pearce as a child, “but to what degree is unclear”. Jurors heard he had been abused from the age of 11 or 12.

He was reportedly killed a short time after clashing with a senior UDA figure, a convicted killer and drug dealer. It is the third killing carried out by the South East Antrim UDA in the past three years. In 2017 it gunned down former members Geordie Gilmore and Colin Horner during an internal feud. Two men, aged 38 and 39, and a woman aged 47, were arrested but nobody has been charged.
